Gear Lust

May 12th, 2005 | Category: General

Okay. Guilty as charged. I suffer from it. Just when I think that I’ve got my project studio sufficiently configured, some manufacturer comes out with some new gear that promises to make my lifer easier - or at least more fun. Well, heck! It may even just look cool. In the old days (I’m much older than I look) I was elated to get my first hardware sequencer. Then there was the sofware sequencer. Then the DAW software. Then the new computer for the DAW software. Then the newer computer for the DAW software. Now its amazing just how many gizmos they can pack into a single box or on a single CD-ROM.

Most recently, I’ve been eyeing Roland’s new G-70 arranger keyboard. Would one of these babies help me score any better or any faster? I don’t know, but the ability to mock-up a decent-sounding arrangement sounds (literally) good to me. I’d write a review right here, but i don’t own one (yet), and I’m sure that you can find plenty on the Web.

I’m wondering if one day my income from film scoring will keep pace with my lust for newer, better, and cooler-looking gear. ;-)

WILL WORK FOR GEAR
